A little from telecommunications.
Deutsche Telecom started providing VDSL2, the advertising campaign has gone under the name "T-Home Speed".
Declared speed is up to 10/50Mbit Up/Down, but real speed on these DSLAM is about 19/58 - certainly in too perfect conditions, when distance to a station is less than one meter.

And with growth of distance up to the client the characteristic of the channel becomes worse, than on ADSL:

up
UP stream

up
DOWN stream

Therefore many can only dream about these 50Mbit. If the distance from the house up to the Telecoms station is more than 1,5 kilometer, there is no point to put this connection.
Anymore, whether you knew, that 24 clients will be connected to one DSLAM, and then optic gigabit further... So if everyone will use maximum of "T-Home-Speed", speed will decrease to 1000/24=40Mbit automatically (without consideration expenses on incapsulation!)
Now " T-Home Speed " is accessible only in 12 cities of Germany, here some thousand stations are already established. But the prices are insane.
Telecom loses tens and hundred thousand clients monthly (!) now, and hope to return a part of these thanks to this program.
